Chris studied at Art School and after graduating, spent his early career as a graphic designer, a short spell in Navy Public Relations and in industrial marketing.
He has now focused his painting on sea and landscapes. He lives just a few minutes walk from the sea in a very beautiful part of South West England..
His paintings are very much inspired by his surroundings, in particular the South Devon coast and countryside, and the sometimes, very harsh landscape of Cornwall. His paintings are emotive, colourful, bright and vibrant, and capture the beauty of the changing seasons or the severity of a winter storm captured with just a few strokes of the brush or knife. Chris’ paintings can add that splash of controlled colour that brings any room to life.
My book Three Heads of the Dragon is a thriller set in Singapore in the mid 60’s …it is available to download from Amazon Kindle at £3.00
It's 1964. Indonesia’s President is furious as he reads a report confirming his Military Confrontation with Britain along the Borneo border is failing and the Federation of Malaysia is still intact. To make matters worse, the President’s security service have just warned him that they believe his Military Chief and some of his senior officers were plotting against him, and that his highly contentious plan to land Indonesian saboteurs covertly into Singapore has been uncovered.
Jimmy Jones, an army veteran who survived internment and torture on the Island by the Japanese; is now a drunk and a 'has been' investigative journalist still living inSingapore. Today he is euphoric; his latest piece on Indonesia's escalation of the military confrontation with Britain is now global news. He heads to Raffles Hotel to meet an informer with a horrifying secret to sell. Their whispered words in the hotel bar, a bomb explosion in the street outside, the pointless death of an Admiral's daughter and the kidnapping of a British Naval Officer were about to expose Jimmy and his young Chinese assistant to the full savagery of the Indonesian terrorists as the pair piece together the facts and discover the terrorists cleverly disguised trail as they escape from Singapore harbour and head North and across the ‘Straits of Johore’ and into the deadly Malaysian jungle.
The British Prime Minister, furious at the security leak and escalation of this conflict to the shores of Singapore, orders his Secretary for Defence to the Island. Terrorism, directed at the heart of British interests in Asia would not be tolerated. But the Prime Minister had no idea then that the Defence Secretary's life too, would soon be in grave and imminent danger.…

I was very lucky to be asked to produce this painting of the famous Dunkirk Little Ship WARRIOR that rescued British and French troops from the beaches of Dunkirk in 1940. This beautiful ship was built for the Admiralty in 1912 and is currently undergoing a full restoration at a boatyard on Hayling Island, Hampshire, England.
You can follow the restoration work on their website.
