The Cove is a very stunning location nestled between the rocky outcrop by Slapton Sands to the East and Beesands to the West. In April 1944, Slapton Sands was used as a practice area for the D-Day landings in Normandy. The live firing exercise, codenamed "Exercise Tiger", was planned to simulate some of the conditions troops would face during the actual invasion.
